Dr. Horst Hecker (born in Haubern, district of Frankenberg in 1964) studied modern history, economic and social history and political science at the Philipps University of Marburg. In 2001 he received his PhD. He has been the director of the Frankenberg (Eder) City Archive since 2002. His research focuses on city and local history as well as the history of the Jews in the region. In addition to numerous newspaper articles and contributions to anthologies, he has published the monograph “Jewish Life in Frankenberg: the History of the Community and its Families”; with articles about the Jewish population in Geismar and Röddenau as well as a documentation of the Jewish cemetery (2011).
