Bettina L. Götze studied the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, graduating with a teaching diploma for history and civic education. She then received her doctorate from the University of Education in Potsdam and completed a course of studies in museology at the Humboldt University in Berlin. From 1984 until her retirement in 2021, she was the director of the Rathenow District Museum, from 2004 the director of the Museum of the Optical Industry in Rathenow and the managing director of the Rathenow Cultural Center. She has worked on numerous research projects, created many exhibits and written several publications on regional history, including the history of the Jews in Rathenow and the Hakhshara center in Steckelsdorf.
