Ellen Grünwald is an educator and has been conducting research on the whereabouts of the former Jewish residents of the city of Eberswalde on a voluntary basis since 2003. She is the founder of the initiative “Traces of Jewish Life in Eberswalde” and co-editor of the “Eberswalde Memorial Book for the Jewish Victims of the Nazis”. In 2019 she received the Medal of Merit of Brandenburg. Through guided tours, events, exhibits and publications, she is active in preserving the memory of Jewish life in Eberswalde.
